State Rep. Ron Mariano

State Representative Ron Mariano (D-Quincy) will not run for Congress in the Massachusetts 10th Congressional district.

In a statement released by his office this afternoon, Mariano said:

“I have decided not to run for the 10th Congressional District seat after taking the time to consider the possibility this weekend.  I sincerely appreciate all the encouragement and support I have received.  I look forward to running for re-election to represent the 3rd Norfolk District in the House and continuing my role as Assistant Majority Leader.”

Mariano was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in December 1991 in a special election. The 3rd Norfolk District he represents includes parts of Quincy, Weymouth, and Holbrook.  Mariano was appointed Assistant Majority Leader in February 2009 and formerly served as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Financial Services.
