The one, the only Jack E. Robinson pulled papers today to run for Attorney General against incumbent Martha Coakley.
Robinson, a Republican, lost to eventual U.S. Senator Scott Brown in the December 8 primary. He previously ran for Congress against Steve Lynch, for Senate against Ted Kennedy, and for Secretary of State against Bill Galvin.
Robinson is the only Republican candidate to enter the race so far.

As a yellow dog Dem, it’s going to be the height of irony when I pull the lever for this guy. I may even cut him a check. I’m sorry, but there has to be consequences and repercussions for failure (otherwise, you get the Bush administration). Too bad all the Ds were too chickenshit to run against Martha.
Oye
Well, now we’re sure to see some action. Coakley’s too easy a target for the GOP to let Robinson take a swing at her!
Words well spoken Ed Poon. I would have voted for any Dem – or even Independent – against Coakley. There should have been consequences for the way she blew the race against Brown. But alas, none of the Dems have the balls to take her on and now she gets the gift that keeps giving – Jack E Robinson. I don’t vote for Republicans, but maybe I will blank it.
Isn’t the consequence for making bad campaign decisions losing that election? If it were that you lose every other election, then Jack E. Robinson certainly doesn’t deserve your vote either?
How about looking at the candidates based on values and issues? There will be consequences for voters if we’re as irresponsible with our votes as AG Coakley was in her run against Scott Brown. The problems with Dems is their shortsightedness and pettiness.
It’s time to move forward and elect a candidate to this post who has brought back billions of dollars to the state and stood up for working people. I hope before November you cool off and realize despite her bad campaign strategy, she’s still the best choice.
Wow Kevin. She is the worst politician in Massachusetts and did incalculable damage to the country. She should be tarred and feathered for her political malpractice. You clearly work for the AG’s office in a hack capacity. Pathetic. Keep supporting the worst excuse for a politician in Massachusetts history. Morons like you are why we are in this position.
I think this is great news. Being a true Democrat, I absolutely hate it when anyone goes unopposed in an election. We, the voters, should always have a choice. Too many elitist Democrats among us give us a bad image in the public view by taking the attitude that the imcumbent (at least if he/she is a Democrat) owns the office, and that it is blasphemy when someone runs against them in the Primary, and scornful when a Republican or Independent runs against them in the General Election. I even remember 20 or 30 years ago when the Democratic Party leadership used the corrupt state and federal judges to keep several legally qualified candidates ILLEGALLY off the Ballot for various offices because they didn’t want our incumbents opposed. Incredibly, they even argued that having another candidate on the Primary Ballot would be “confusing” to the voters. What a stain on our Party!!!! We are the Democrats and we should be democratic.
And I feel bad for Jack E. Robinson (not because he is rich, and even though he is a lawyer). His own Party has shunned him and gotten the media to paint an image of him as a bumbling dolt (ala George Quincy Bush). I think that has been very unfair. From what I have read about him (factually), he is not a bad guy, his positions on the issues are rather mainstream (not crazy), he is willing to spend his own money, and he is certainly to be commended for giving us a choice. He is more democratic than many of our own Democratic Party leaders. Shame on us!!!
I recall on Saturday Night Live after the disastrous Senate Special Election, the character playing Juan Peron Obama exclaimed, “And, Martha Coakley, you couldn’t even beat Dick Cheney for Mayor of Berkeley!” An intriguing thought, indeed. If there is any truth in that statement, maybe Jack E. Robinson could win for Attorney General of Massachusetts. Maybe I will vote for him , and then try to get him to convert to being a Democrat, so I won’t be accused of being a traitor to the Party. Would I get credit for promoting “affirmative action”, expanded democracy, fighting for the common man, and all the other good things that our Party claims to stand for? Or would I be scorned by the “beautiful people” in our Party?
Anyhow , thank you to all the good people who do run for office so that us “common folk” at least have some choices, even if it makes the elitists among us angry. And thank you especially to Jack E. Robinson. I commend your civic mindedness and dedication to democracy.
