Mike McGee

The Sacred Codcast returned this morning when I interviewed Mike McGee, a candidate for State Rep. in the 4th Suffolk district of Massachusetts (South Boston and part of Dorchester).

[Disclaimer: McGee and I are old friends.  I note this in the Codcast.  The invitation is open to any of his opponents to join me on the Codcast as well.]

McGee and I discussed his reasons for running, his position on casino gaming, and the challenges of being a Democrat in an neighborhood that is trending right.

When asked what his first priority would be at the State House, McGee said he would like to eliminate per diems for State Legislators.

Mike is very well spoken.. He still did not answer the question to why he challenged Brian Wallace? Which many in this town just don’t understand after years of Brians service to the community..He just stated Beacon Hill is broken which is very vague answer.

Obviously Democrats are not always challenged, but McGee sounds like he cares about the district and wants to improve his neighborhood. The first thing he said was that he wanted to deliver services to the neighborhood. He’s mentioned the drug problem, and school issues. Mike sounds like a genuine person who is running to improve the community. I like Mike!

I dont buy it from this guy. He just moves in to the neighborhood and wants to challenge Brian Wallace, seems like an opportunist to me, I do not know much about the race though does he even have a chance in Southie?
